Investors Council Meeting
On January 29, 2021 Ambassador Zviad Chumburidze, Secretary General of EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC) and Giorgi Kacharava, EUGBC Executive Director took part at the 14th meeting of the Investors Council chaired by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia.Challenges posed by COVID-19, steps taken to respond to the pandemic-related crisis, the results of work in 2020, and future plans were among the key issues discussed during the meeting.
The council reviewed the outcomes of 2020 and summarized implemented reforms. The meeting paid special attention to challenges posed by COVID-19 and steps taken to counter the pandemic-related recession. The importance of assisting crisis-affected businesses and particular sector was underlined. The meeting pointed out that the communication between the Government and the business sector will continue in 2021.
The discussions also touched on the 2021-2022 action plan, with emphasis on reopening the economy, commencing to lift restrictions, and implementing the post-pandemic economic plan, and on concrete steps to be taken in this direction by the Government in 2021. The council also discussed the Georgian Government’s vaccination plan.
The discussions also outlined steps to be taken to support businesses through the crisis.
During the meeting of the Investors Council agreed to intensify its meetings in order to contribute to overcoming the pandemic-related economic crisis as fast and effectively as possible.
