Dentons has advised Webster University on the opening of its first campus in Tbilisi

Dentons has advised Webster University, a private US-based university operating in more than 50 locations on four continents, on the opening of its first campus in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Webster University Georgia, which is authorized as a Higher Education Institute (HEI) in Georgia, is located on the campus of the Business and Technology University in Tbilisi. It will offer numerous American degrees that are fully accredited in the United States and recognized worldwide.
The initial program offering will include bachelor’s degrees in international relations, business administration, and media studies, and graduate degrees in international relations, media communications, and business administration.
Dentons advised Webster University on local corporate and regulatory issues related to the registration and structuring of the branch in Georgia, and assisted the client in obtaining authorization as an educational institution from the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Otar Kipshidze, Georgia Managing Partner was the partner in charge of the project and the team was led by senior associate Mariam Vashakidze.
Otar Kipshidze said: “We were pleased to work on this important project which will improve access to post-secondary education in Georgia and the surrounding region. This will be the first international university which will give Georgia-based students the opportunity to obtain an international degree without leaving the country.”
