Dentons’ Tbilisi office takes active part in Pre-Moot competition
Dentons’ Tbilisi office has provided both professional and financial support to the Arbitration Initiative Georgia (AIG) in organizing the Tbilisi Vis Pre-Moot competition. Two paralegals from Dentons – Mariam Malidze and Lela Basilaia – have volunteered to organize the 8th Tbilisi Vis Pre-Moot for Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition that took place on 22-24 February, 2019. Furthermore, senior counsel Ted Jonas and associate Darejan Beridze have served as arbitrators and helped raising the quality of the competition.
The competition was the largest and involved the most countries in the history of Tbilisi Pre-Moot. It hosted teams from 21 universities representing 7 countries – Georgia, Germany, Denmark, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. For many Georgian teams and also the teams of the neighbor countries in the South Caucasus, Tbilisi Pre-moot is the only pre-moot which they can attend and where they can practice oral arguments before the Vis Moot Competition in Vienna. Therefore, Dentons Georgia is proud to have had an active role in such an international event which aims to promote arbitration and students involvement not only in Georgia, but in the region as well.
